Press Release | A partnership at the pinacle

Vitus Bikes will continue its partnership with Cherie Pridham Racing in 2019 and remain the headline sponsor of Vitus Pro Cycling Team, powered by Brother UK.

A significantly strengthened squad, led by triple Olympic champion Ed Clancy OBE, will race on the flagship ZX-1 team bike, equipped with a 12-speed, electronic SRAM RED eTap AXS groupset, and carbon wheels and finishing kit from Prime Components.

Cherie Pridham, the team’s owner and manager, said she was delighted to continue the relationship with Vitus Bikes, a partner with significant scale.

“Vitus Bikes is a major player in the bike industry and we’re delighted to have their support for a second consecutive year. They’ve done us proud with the new ZX1 - a bike that looks as fast as it rides,” she said.

“The feedback I’ve had from my guys has been entirely positive, and it’s been great to work so closely with the Vitus Bikes engineers and product managers to bring such a great-looking bike to the start line."

The ZX-1 incorporates a host of technical advances that will allow the riders of Vitus Pro Cycling Team, powered by Brother UK to perform at their best. The sophisticated carbon frameset is lightweight and stiff, making it as valuable to climbers like former British hill climb champion Adam Kenway as it is to sprinters like Chris Latham, whose huge wattage demands a flex-free chassis.

SRAM’s flagship RED eTap AXS groupset is comprised of the most advanced components on the market, including a 12-speed, electronic transmission, programmable from a smartphone app, and a revolutionary drivetrain, built around a 50-37 chainset and 10-28 cassette, to offer the broadest ratios.

Carbon fibre wheels and handlebars from Prime Components help keep weight to a minimum, while offering supreme stiffness. The team will race on Prime’s 50mm, disc-specific and tubeless-compatible Black wheelset, and the aero-profiled Primavera handlebar, held by the aluminium Doyenne stem.

Kirsty Smith, senior marketing manager at Vitus Bikes, said the partnership with Vitus Pro Cycling Team, powered by Brother UK fitted well with the brand’s Ride More philosophy.

“Our focus at Vitus Bikes is to allow people to ride more, by providing high-quality bikes that are affordable and desirable, from the Razor to the ZX-1 ridden by Vitus Pro Cycling Team, powered by Brother UK. We’ve seen phenomenal growth in the road market and the team is at the pinnacle of that,” she said.

“Last year, Cherie’s support for younger riders who wouldn’t have received exposure elsewhere was really appealing, and fitted with our Ride More philosophy. The calibre of riders she has recruited this year means the feedback we receive from the team will be really valuable. Our customers will get better bikes as a result of our relationship with Vitus Pro Cycling Team, powered by Brother UK, and that’s a story we look forward to telling.”

Vitus Pro Cycling Team, powered by Brother UK will compete in some of the biggest races on the domestic calendar in 2019, including in the Tour de Yorkshire, which last year drew an estimated 2.6m people to the roadside over four days, as well as attracting millions more spectators via live terrestrial television coverage of every stage.

The team will also compete in the televised Tour Series, where riders like Ed Clancy OBE and Scott Thwaites, signed from the UCI WorldTour are proven winners. A limited but focused programme of international races, such as the GP de Lillers and the Tour du Loir et Cher will complete a balanced race programme.
